Propagation - Making Elsanta "Tray Plants"

These recently planted Elsanta Tips at Oaktree Nursery will be grown on through-out the Summer and Autumn to make well balanced "Tray Plants". When dormant they will be packed and then put into cold store at -1° C. These plants will then be planted into bags to give quality fruit early in 2008. 

Cherry Picking

The fruit farm also has two cherry plantations which give a short harvest of quality cherries (20 tonnes). Cherry picking, together with the new Blueberry enterprise, provides a welcome change to the usual  Strawberry and  Raspberry harvesting.

We are half way through the harvesting of our Blackcurrant plantations. The ripe blackcurrants are stripped off the bushes by a strange looking specialist harvesting machine and the fruit is sent off to be made into Ribena ( The famous Blackcurrant drink).
